NortonHaus House Manual
Welcome to NortonHaus, we’re happy we get to share this special place with you.
Kevin is a Tucson native and Elizabeth has fallen in love with the beauty and calm of the Sonoran desert over the last 18 years. We bought this home as a place for our family to stay and our kids to see their grandparents and uncle when we come to Tucson. We hope that you enjoy this home as much as we do and that you discover the magic of the mountains and desert that we miss when we are gone.

TV
The TV has access to our accounts with Netflix, Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu. We ask that you use your personal account for any other desired services, but if you don’t have an account with a streaming service that you’d like to use, just let us know!
To access a streaming service, turn the TV on and press the button with the home icon on it (it should default to the home screen when the TV gets turned on). The home screen will show a set of “apps” - one for each service. Simply select whichever streaming service you’d like!
Please don’t forget to sign out of any personal service you log into during your stay. We will do our best to log out of any and all accounts after you check out :)
Heating and Air Conditioning
There are two HVAC units that control the main house, plus a remote-controlled unit for the guest house. Each unit in the main house is controlled by a single Nest thermostat. The thermostat that controls the kitchen and the nearby dining/living areas is located on the wall in the living room with the fireplace, and the thermostat that controls the TV room and bedrooms is located in the hallway by the front door. Adjustments can be made to the temperature by simply turning the dial.
The guest house has its own heating/cooling unit that is controlled by an accompanying remote control. We’ll leave that on the dresser for you. Please turn off the AC in the guest house when you leave as it tends to drip when left on too long.
We are energy conscious and ask to try to keep the temperature at 72 degrees.
Fireplace
Please feel free to use our gas fireplace in the living room. To use, turn on the gas with the knob located on the left side of the fireplace and ignite with a long necked lighter. The lighter is located in the kitchen drawer island. Please turn off the fireplace as soon as you are done using it and never leave the house with it on.
Vinyl Record Player & Bluetooth for Outdoor Speakers
There are a couple of options for playing music in the house. We have a vintage vinyl record player with a set of records for your use. Instructions are located on the player or you can check out this quick video we made on YouTube. We ask you to be gentle and take care of the player and records :)
If you prefer to play your own tunes, you can connect to the outdoor speakers via Bluetooth. There’s an audio I/O outlet to the left of the door leading to the patio by the fireplace. The Bluetooth to connect to is “PYLEUSA”. Please be respectful of our neighbors and keep the volume down after it gets dark. Quiet hours are after 10pm.
Daybed & Kid stuff
There’s a twin size daybed in the office (the room just to the right of the front door as you walk in) that can be used as an additional sleeping area.
There’s a pack n’ play for small children that is located in the hall closet. Also we have a high chair, two baby carriers for hiking, and two umbrella strollers in the living room closet behind the fireplace.
We have a twin size tri fold floor mattress (in a gray carrying case) located in the primary bedroom walk-in closet that can be used as an additional bed.
Parking
There are two driveways that can each park two vehicles and ample street parking (no permits needed).
Trash and Recycling
Trash collection is every Monday; they typically arrive around 6AM and recycling is every other week. To find out if it is a recycle week, please visit this web address: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/es/find-your-services-schedule and put in our address (1800 N Norton Ave). The cans can be pulled to the curb on Sunday for collection on Monday. If you are unable to bring the cans to the curb, please let me know and I can try to arrange for someone else to take them out. Also, unfortunately Tucson does not recycle glass through the residential program, so any glass containers need to be thrown away in the garbage bin or brought to a glass recycle center.
Outdoor Spaces, Pool & Hot Tub
Front and Back Yards: Please be aware of sharp plants, cacti, and other objects that could cause harm. The pool is not fenced nor gated and children are to be supervised at all times while outside. Once again keep noise at respectful levels throughout your stay.
Pool & Hot Tub: Please understand that use of the pool and hot tub is at your own risk. Never leave children unattended. The pool and hot tub are controlled by an app called Pentair ScreenLogic. We have a tablet (passcode is 180000) attached to the wall next to the side door leading out to the pool area that has the app pre-installed on it.
To turn on the hot tub, go to the ScreenLogic app and under the "Local" tab tap "connect." If that doesn't work, tap the "remote" tab and enter "20-8E-97" as the 6-digit Pentair number; do not enter anything for password and tap “connect.” Tap the “Pool/Spa” tab at the top. Tap the “Spa” button just above “Spa Temperature” so that it turns blue, then use the slider under “Set Point” to select desired temperature. You’ll see the “Heater” button at the bottom flash and this confirms the heater is on. To turn off the hot tub, tap the “Spa” button again above “Spa Temperature" and it will turn light gray to indicate it is turned off. Please remember to turn off the hot tub when you are not using it.
To heat the pool, go to the ScreenLogic app and tap the “Pool/Spa” tab at the top. Tap the “Pool” button just above “Pool Temperature” so that it turns blue, then use the slider under “Set Point” to select desired temperature. Please do not heat the pool above 83 degrees. Going above this temp will harm the pool pump. Only the pool or spa can heat at once, so heating one will switch the heater to the selected body of water. Please note, the pool heater may not be able to get up to 83 degrees depending on the weather during the winter months. This past winter, Tucson had record low temps and it even snowed!
To operate the pool and spa lights, tap the “Pool/Spa” tab at the top, then tap “Lighting” and use the slider to turn them on or off.
Please do not change or delete any set schedules for the cleaner and water circulation.
If you want to control the spa from your phone, you can download the Pentair ScreenLogic app. Open the app and under the "Local" tab tap "connect." If that doesn't work, tap the "remote" tab and enter "20-8E-97" as the 6-digit Pentair number; do not enter anything for password and tap “connect.” If you are having any trouble with the tablet or app, please contact me and I’d be happy to set any of the temps for you.
Pool Service: The pool is serviced every Wednesday. They typically come anytime between 11am-1pm and have their own unique gate code.
Floaties and Pool Toys: Floaties and pool toys are located in the brown plastic bin outside on the NW side of the pool. Please deflate and place back in the bin when finished using as they can blow away if the wind picks up.
Pool Towels and Blankets: Striped pool towels are provided for your use when using the pool or hot tub. Please do not take white towels outside. Pool towels are located in a basket by the back door. Blankets are scattered around the house (some extras located in the hallway closet). Please bring the blankets indoors after use.
Security cameras: Please note that we have 3 security cameras on the exterior of the house monitoring the outdoor spaces and exterior of the house. There’s one monitoring the front door and driveway; one monitoring the side door and garage; and one monitoring the pool area.
